Misanthropic Antichrist” is the debut demo of the one man project Albtraum and this is very much felt.
It is enough to see the album’s title and it becomes obvious that the music is built with the standard Black Metal stencils
and even stereotypes (in both music and ideas).
The demo begins and ends with an intro and outro with cold Ambient compositions, which was very popular in the good old times. However, between them there are four primitive tracks dominated by anger, speed and chaos. The author is obviously a fan of Darkthrone. Actually, the beginning of “Armageddon” sounded very promising for a half a minute, before the guitars and vocals appeared... The situation repeated with the following songs as well.
The foundation of the compositions are repeated guitar riffs, plastic and fake drum sounds (they are bashed everywhere) and the shouting vocals with little expression. However, it might be strange, but the vocal parts leave the best impression. I’d say Albtraum should sit down to create for a while and to find balance in its own way. Otherwise nothing good can be expected. The biggest plus of the demo is its release on physical CD format. Done simple, but expressive. It is a pity that its contents are so substandard. [2,5; Odium]
